Penukonda Biofuels is developing a 65 KLPD grain-based bioethanol plant in Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh, designed to supply Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Southern India with IS:15464-compliant fuel ethanol.
This is not a concept deck. This is a FID-bound industrial project, currently advancing from FEL - 0 to FEL-1.

65 KLPD grain-based 1G Ethanol facility.

Maize, Broken Rice, Damaged Food Grains

Approximately 165–170.

1G Grain-Based Ethanol

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) with 95% water recycling and net fresh water intake of 250–300 KLD.

2.5 MW captive co-generation for process steam and electrical load self-sufficiency.

45–50 TPD of DDGS for the local poultry and cattle feed clusters.

Approximately 15 - 20 acres

FEL - 0 complete
FEL - 1 in progress
Penukonda, Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh
Proximate to the Kia Motors Industrial Ecosystem (~17 km) and NH-44, ensuring grid stability and road-first logistics.
Strategically located in a region where farmers are shifting from water-intensive paddy to maize due to climate stress and groundwater depletion.
A secure feedstock supply of 170 TPD is validated within a tight 50 km radius.
Includes on-site buffer storage for 20–30 days to ensure uninterrupted plant uptime.

Hammer mills and enzymatic liquefaction to process grain efficiently.

Thermotolerant yeast strains specifically designed for high ambient temperatures.

Multi-pressure distillation columns to produce 99.8% v/v fuel-grade ethanol.
Adoption of modular and skid-mounted subsystems where feasible to accelerate project timelines.
Designed for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) clarity, not overcustomisation.
For efficient wet cake separation.
For thin slops concentration.
For final byproduct drying.
Ensuring high-quality water recovery.

Achieving more than 95% water recovery with zero liquid effluent discharge.

Conversion of waste streams into DDGS.

No liquid effluent is discharged into the environment
Industrial allocation from the Gollapalli Reservoir.
250–300 KLD post-recycling
By creating demand for maize instead of paddy, the project indirectly reduces agricultural water consumption at the district level.

Capacity: 2.5 MW

Fuel Source: Biomass or coal.

Efficiency: Energy self-sufficiency for process steam and electrical loads.

Output: Approximately 45–50 TPD.

End-use: Poultry and cattle feed.

Local Advantage: Capturing demand from Anantapur’s established poultry cluster.
Complete — 65 KLPD capacity and site location locked.
In Progress — Validating 170 TPD requirement.
In Progress — Evaluation and selection of process technology licensors.
In Progress — Water + geotech.
In Progress — EIA initiation.
Upcoming — Class 3 CAPEX.
Upcoming — OMC offtake frameworks.
